Jennifer Loo CFO of Tala

Today we are speaking with Jennifer Loo, CFO of Tala

Welcome to the Pandocap Show.

Q: Can you share a bit about your journey with our audience?

A: I worked for Ellie Kay consulting, which gave me a great introduction to different types of business, and I continued to pursue my law degree at NYU and graduated during the last global crisis in 2009.  Then I connected with the former CFO of Legal Zoom and ended up working there for six years, and it was a great experience being part of their growing finance team.  It gave me a taste and a love for companies that focus on more than just the bottom line.  I am now at Tala, a fintech based in Santa Monica focused on delivering financial services to the global emerging middle class, solving a massive problem worldwide.

Q: We have seen CFOs become the heart of the company, especially during these times.  How do you navigate the dynamics of having to serve so many stakeholders?

A: I think to cut through the noise and clutter, focus first and foremost on your customer because that will map things for you and create clarity.

Q: Fintech is exploding worldwide, and Tala is at the forefront of it.  Where do you see things headed for Tala in 2021?

A: There is a challenging reality that most fintech companies are not serving the customers that Tala is reaching.  Tala is focused on the underbanked or underestimated. They are often the customers that other fintech companies overlook in developing their programs and products.  For us, we saw 2020 proof that we need to exist as a company.  Our goal is to deliver a financial agency, and we are excited about the pipeline to help our customers use, save, and grow their money.

Thank you for joining us on Pandocap, and we look forward to highlighting your success as an Influential Woman.
